Built between the years 1886 and 1888, the old "Inn of Immigrants Brás "was one of the largest centers for the reception of foreigners already in Brazil. For its dependencies, spent more than two million people between the years 1887 and 1978.
The information presented here record the most significant part of this immigration, and the transcript of records of registration of this guest book for the years 1887 to 1958. Additionally, there is also the bank records of the former Inn of the Good Retreat (predecessor of the Inn of Brás) covering the years from 1882 until 1886. The database presented here is derived from the Immigrant Memorial of St. Paul . With the closing of this institution for reform, the Public Archives of the State of São Paulo got temporary custody of his collection archival, and is also responsible for issuing "Certificates of landing" prepared based on the material in question.
It should be noted that these records are transcribed as literally as they appear in books, it is common that the spelling of names, last names might not match correctly.
It is also worth noting that the records were made on behalf of "householders" (usually the male relative in their productive years, older). We suggest therefore that the consultation is made by their behalf.
Good research!
