As reported in my posts, I had a doubt about the correct name of my bisnonno Italian. As I had no idea how and when he had come to Brazil, I decided to look at the passenger lists of ships arriving at the port of Rio de Janeiro. My idea was to find his name there and thus be more certain of what would be the correct surname.
The National Archives recently released online lists of passengers arriving at the port of Rio from 1875 until 1891. As this covers the vast majority of immigrants Italians coming to Brazil, it is worth taking a look.
Dissatisfied with the online system of the AN which greatly complicates the search of the records, I decided to make a compilation of all ships that brought Italian immigrants, excluding others. Moreover, a direct link to download the PDF of the National Archives. Basically, our bisnonni came from three ports: Naples emigrants pros of the center-south of Italy, and Genoa / Marseilles pros from the North of Italy (Veneto, Lombardy, Trento, Piedmont, and Emiliani Toscani).
These vessels mostly did not come straight. They made stops in several ports to arrive in Rio so it does not mean that a ship coming to Genova has not passed initially by Napoli and so saw. The bottom line: you must open the lists one by one and see what their port that had emigrated.
addition, several Listings are unreadable. Others were missing. It is worth remembering that here are not the ships that arrived in Santos, and if there emigrated lost if not stopped at the inn.
